Payroll Tax & Accounting Specialist

Job TitlePayroll Tax & Accounting SpecialistPosition OverviewThis advanced position is located in a fast-paced, highly analytical, and dynamic environment and operates under the general direction of the Manager, Payroll Tax and Accounting.

The position is required to maintain compliance with complex Federal, State, and Local payroll tax laws and regulations for 22,000 associates located in all 50 states.

This person must possess extensive broad knowledge of all aspects of payroll including creating, reconciling, and analyzing payroll reports.

The position requires advanced knowledge of General Accounting and payroll tax reporting practices.Responsibilities:Responsible for all Federal, State, and Local payroll tax deposits processed through ADPResponsible for balancing and reconciliation ofquarterly Federal 941 reporting/filingannual Federal 940 reporting/filingquarterly State Unemployment Insurance reporting/filingall State Income Tax reporting/filingsResponsible for month end general ledger close processing includinggeneral ledger labor balancinglabor journal entriesPerforms general ledger account reconciliations for various payroll accountsResponsible for completing Payroll Settlement Process and related integrationsPerforms tax law research in order to maintain compliance with all federal, multi-state, and local tax jurisdictions and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures.Performs year-end W-2 reconciliation and processingConducts monthly Federal and State tax auditsCompetencies:Execute action plan by ensuring work is completed efficiently and on timeDemonstrate good judgment by evaluating problems based on data and developing potential solutionsInitiate action by being proactive and taking prompt action to accomplish work goalsRequired:Bachelor degree in Accounting or similar field OR High School Diploma and 3+ years of related experience as outlined in the responsibilitiesWorking knowledge of general accounting practicesAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skillsComputer proficiency including Microsoft Office and GoogleExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred:FPC or CPPWorking knowledge of Federal, Multi-State, and Local payroll tax laws and resourcesPayroll/accounting/tax experienceSpecial Requirements:Willing to work all Mondays including holidays.

Willing to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Must be able maintain a high level of confidentiality and have good organizational skills.

Incumbent must be able to prioritize tasks and have the ability to work under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met.
